Figures are already astronomical when it comes to producing a musical these days. Plays, not so much. How much did "Lord Of The Rings" cost? Whoever's doing "Spiderman: The Broadway Musical" (with music by U2 and direction by The Lion King's Julie Taymor) has given them a budget of up to $30 million (US) THAT is unprecedented! From everything that you've explained in the script, it sounds like it'll be HUGELY expensive. Will this break the record for most lavish spectacle ever produced? I'm intrigued. That's why I subliminally gave you my contact address, to see if you knew any figures (I didn't want to get you or any of your people into trouble; if you are who you say you are OF COURSE. PLEASE don't take offense to that, I mean it in the nicest possible way.) I'm HIGHLY intrigued about all this, from a producer's stance-point. It's starting to sound like "Cats" did in 1981. Andrew's last stage-success was "Evita" which ran its course on the West End and Broadway, and everyone wanted to know what happens next. In Jim's case, for a time it was going to be the equally ambitious "Batman" project, and he looks like he's in a much MUCH MUCH MUCH more riskier position HAVING come off a show like "Dance Of The Vampires" (and not to mention "Garbo" flopping within months of it.) All Steinmania aside, I'm HIGHLY intrigued. | |
