Jim Steinman's Bat Out of Hell: The Massive Screaming Musical Phenomenon

Hello Mr.Egg,

I recall you claimed in a thread lower down that you've been in contact with Wilson Milam, and saw a script for this project.

Has your source told you anything about the songs in the show? Which ones were to be included. Were there new songs or is it all sloppy seconds. Did it include only songs from the Bat albums, or did it include newer stuff like Body, Children, Pig, Graveyard Shift et cetera. You know, that sort of thing.

I was thinking about this.

I think if the show has songs that the average UK-residing Meat Loaf CD owner doesn't have yet, that could help the show. Personally, I probably wouldn't go see a musical whose songs are already old stuff to me, even if I lived in London.

If the score doesn't have enough new songs, the show will inevitably be compared to oldies shows like "We Will Rock You", "Mama Mia", and "Smoking Joe's Cafe." That in turn will solidify Jim Steinman's status as a has-been. But, if there is significant new content in the score it can avoid the oldies/jukebox label, and make Jim Steinman look more like somebody who is still creative.

Best Regards,

Bright Eyes
