Meat Loaf just happened to be at his most successful when I was, say, 7. We got the album "Back Into Hell" because dad already had "Bat Out Of Hell" and mum would play it in the car constantly, because our grandparents live in the country, it would be a long ride. I still remember "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" being the best song I'd ever heard.

Actually, not that you'd care but I think it's funny, it took 4 attempts to hear "Back Into Hell" for the first time. We were new to CDs and we were showing this one off to people, for some reason, and everytime we'd get as far as a certain song, the CD would be stopped and started from the beginning. After that, it was everywhere and I remember THAT and Billy Joel "River Of Dreams" being my first albums.

Then I heard "Total Eclipse of the Heart" where I TRULY realized who Jim Steinman was. THAT was the revelation for me and I still remember hearing the full version for the first time after hearing a radio edit for 2 or so years without ever knowing! LOL. "Holding Out For A Hero", "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" and "No Matter What" followed suite, and the "Whistle Down The Wind" album and "Tanz Der Vampyr", the most glorious cast recording to have ever existed. It is absolutely SUPERB! Not even the original album for "Jesus Christ Superstar" comes close. The only album that comes close is "Sweeney Todd" with Len Cariou and Angela Lansbury & then Michael Crawford's awesome portrayal as the Phantom.

I'm STILL waiting for THE FINAL AT BAT !!!
