I think the Paradise Lost passage works perfectly. Took me a few rereads to get to that conclusion though. I always felt it fit, but after you brought it up I tried to figure out a reason and that took a while.

The key is that he sings that part soft. "The Devil's Playground" is adulthood you could say. The Paradise that's been lost is his childhood, which he still mourns. It's not a happy thing to be Captain Hook.

"In the blink of an eye
All is lost"

This appraisal makes more sense than what I posted in my thread.

I agree though that "I'll decorate the city in ribbons of blood!" sounds better. I also don't think the line "I will find the endless tears/Soon to be a flood" makes that much sense. So he finds them and... then what? The act of simply "finding" endless tears isn't evil. He has to be the cause. Maybe "I will create the endless tears/soon to be a flood"?
