I saw bruce & the E Streeters way back in 87/88 on the Tunnel Of Love tour at Villa park, home of Aston Villa, superb.
As for problems with football championships, most european countries football grounds are pretty much underused during the summer months.
The season in the UK finishes off around May and doesn't resume until aug/sept.
So i would hazard a guess that Celine's poor sales had little or nothing to do with the football, imho her celebrity in Europe has somewhat diminished.
