The Boss

Saw Bruce Springsteen yesterday here in the Cologne Arena, Eurpes largest indoor venue (where Meat Loaf played in May too).
After being disappointed and upset when attending his recent "whatever it was called singing just depressive songs"-tour, I had low expectations but wanted to go because of the SteinMeatconnection via E-street members Max Weinberg and Roy Bittan.

And yes, I could complain about his few political statements (which are inappropiate at rock shows IMO cause the audience cheers anyhow, whatever is said), about his voice struggling at times (but being charismatic nevertheless - and yes, we have heard that before) or about being sceptic that the fiddle notes heard where those played on stage (have been too far back to be sure).

But - what the hell - bottom line is it was great!
Fine rock music performed with much more power than on the new album Magic (they did every song of it and much more in 140 minutes including the big ones and ending with Santa Claus Is Comming To Town)
And I give him credit for telling the audience to calm down (Shhhhhh...) when the music got overpowered by the stupid clapping and screaming.

I was of corse sold out and the reviews are very positive. Nevertheless I doubt it was clever to book stadium shows in summer during the European football championship. A thing someone should have told Celine Dion, her presales for the same time are very bad so far.
