But just because > someone might lack moral convictions, doesn't mean they're > not smart. I agree with you, Pudding, totally. Lacking moral convictions doesn't reflect on intelligence at all. >He's an overweight bloke who isn't all that pretty to look at >and who's voice isn't what it's cracked up to be anymore, yet >he's worth $Millions. So he must be fairly smart. I guess that this, your first statement on this subject, threw me off, as I concluded that artistic compromise, a form of moral flexibility, is a totally separate issue than his being smart or not. Smart becomes subjective here, as one may or may not choose to define the practice of stopping at nothing to make money and be famous as being smart or doing the smart thing. So by those standards, he was smart for doing whatever it took to succeed the way he has. I just don't agree with that definition is all. >Most of us will work our asses off and never ever see the >type of lifestyle Meat has, who's the dumb bastards? So based on your statements, I was simply making the point that being smart has nothing to do with it. He works hard and does whatever it takes to be successful at what he does, no matter the level of compromise involved or the amount of backstabbing he has to do. It's not smarts, it's being a shark. It's ambition and determination at any cost. Most of all, it's lack of loyalty. When he proceeded with Bat 3 without Jim, I lost most of my respect for him. When I saw news of him performing in concert even though his voice was clearly shot and he could no longer carry a tune, I lost the rest of it. He is a cash cow, that's about it. I'm not saying these things to take stabs at him. He was my favorite performer for a long time. I was really hurt and crushed when I started seeing how he has been doing business. | |
