Why?...is your life incomplete without knowing? It doesn't change anything.
Two factors for me as to why Batman got canned:
1)DOTV tanked big time and Jim was probably seen as damaged goods
2) The Batman demo's for me aren't that fantastic and not something I'd invest $15Million in.
