| I'd be inclined to agree with you Marvello, alot of people regard musicals as simply camp froth and on the whole they're right, but some do break that mould. If this kind of show were to be done (the X-f*ckter type thing I mean) then you're absolutely spot on, purely as a publicity thing, it'd have to be done with more rock stylings than Cowell's vehicles. There are templates, to my knowledge, I think VH1 did a rock talent show type thing a couple of years ago, and INXS did another I think. So it's not an entirely untested formula should the media types get the shakes just thinking about a television show that attempts to break moulds... When I first read Scaramouche's post, my initial response was, like yours, NONONONONO!!! But publicity is a necessary evil and a show like this done WELL could be a boon for the show. I think it's also good to point out that comparisons to WWRY will be inevitable, but at every possible turn an effort should be made to differentiate the Bat show. Funny how Queen and Jim aren't more frequently compared to each other, both *sort of* emerging at the same time and both employing a bombastic approach to get their message across ;) > NO NO NO, not another god awful fuggin reality show, i > like many others are sick to the fuggin gills with these > shite shows. > I'd rather see the Bat show as more a rock revue show, > similar in style to the many loaf tribute shows, West End > stage show, it'll die with the rest of the Juke Box > shows. > > I'm a rocker, a biker, a West End theatre will target the > wrong demographic, i believe you need to target the rock > fans not the theatre goers. > > > > I've mentioned this before, so I'll mention it again.... > > > > How about a Bat audition TV show 'Like a Bat Out Of Hell', > > casting for Peter and/or Wendy? > > > > The slight twist being that anyone working in theatre can > > audition, not just 'unknowns'. > > > > Lloyd Webber has just announced 'I'd Do Anything' on BBC > > 1, a search for Oliver & Nancy, in a new production of > > Oliver. > > > > Cameron Mackintosh is now jumping onboard, as one of the > > judges (and producer), which does tend to add a bit more > > credibility (to these type of shows)? > > > > BBC 1 is probably out of the question for 2008, but ITV or > > possibly Sky One could pick it up?
