| I usually go to Tim Burton films expecting to appreciate the eye candy. I don't expect to emotionally connect with the film. Maybe, that's because I'm appreciating the artistry from the perspective of an outsider, critic, or analyst and I just don't get involved, but I think it could be because Burton, well, sucks as a director. I know there are some obvious exceptions, but most of his movies either pull too hard and in an awkward way on the heart strings or just fail to move me altogether. I've seen and enjoyed Sweeney a few times on stage, but I'm afraid that the movie will ummmm... be boring... or it will be Sweeney Todd: A Musical Adapted Using Burton's People In Order to Constantly Remind Us This Film Is About...
