| I'd contact the American Kennel Club and see if they have up to date shipping information regarding importing dogs. Smeg is correct about quarantine--when the dog lands here he most likely will have to board at a kennel for a designated length of time--this is to verify that rabies isn't harboured. Plan to have all vaccines and health records up to date and documented. Also bear in mind that microchips outside of the USA (if the dog was implanted over there) do NOT match our data banks here--he'd need to be rechipped stateside. Also depending on the size of the dog, it's harder and harder to find an airline with cargo space for a shipping crate, especially live cargo. I'd expect from that distance you're looking at at least one changeover and airlines' regulations vary. The language barrier could be a problem as well, so bilingual tagging might be required.Ideally you can locate someone in the dog's area who has recent experience in shipping dogs out because this change very quickly--even flying stateside. The best bet would be to buy a ticket yourself and fly with him so that he's technically your live baggage and you can watch him come down the cargo hold during changeovers and be sure they don't roast him on the tarmac. The cost would be about the same. Good luck! Leesa J > Does anyone know the procedures for sending a dog from > Egypt to USA? > > > -J > | |
