I have no bias against Broadway singers - as you correctly point out, Meat was once one.
I just happen to think that Rob isn't a very good one, that's all. And, like I say, if you think Rob's vocals are 'passionate' then you have very low standards.
Steve Barton on the other hand was excellent - technically and emotionally. He was also far more distinctive than Rob is, which is an important asset when singing Jim's music.
