| Idol is the only reality show I can watch. (I can stomach Survivor) Idol popularized the modern Star Search. Now every show has c-list judges and stupid scoring formulas promising to find the next "star". Idol does it best. It's all about the public votes, which forces the contestants to sweat through the entire competition. Especially with Simon's brutal honesty. Nobody is truly safe, next week you may screw it up. I'm such a fan of music that I can't wait to see what songs are being performed, and how they're going to be performed. Some are getting pretty good with the arrangements. You get to watch contestants touch greatness for a moment only to lose it. And occasionally you get to watch a star made right before your eyes. Case in point: David Cook performing Billie Jean. It's also fun to watch how the Idol Machine changes them throughout the show. The contestant look like normal people when it starts. Then watch as the physical faults are corrected. This is the third season I've watched, but the first I've voted. I don't play favorites. I vote once for my favorite performance. Whatever song was the best of the night. A few weeks I didn't vote at all and have yet to vote for a Steinman cover, none of them this year have been anything special. I actually groan when someone attempts IACBTMN. You have to be really, really good to pull off that song, and even if you do, It's already been done better. Anyways, the results show is on. The good people are already on to next week. Time to trim the fat... > > Why does "American Idol" intrigue you? I can't stand > Reality T.V.
