| To me lyrics are important but i think the intro into a song is the most important. Something has to grab your attention. and the song needs a catchy melody of course. I could write a song with the lyrics "Jesus has a tail and it wags like a limp cock" and it could be a #1 hit if it grabbed the listeners attention and had a catchy tune. To me the lyrics seal the deal, the icing on the cake, etc... so many fun songs have stupid lyrics, but to me the complete package makes a great song. -Justin but then again I know nothing. > would like to hear your opinions on this. > > I've always been tought (in school, etc) that the melody > was the most important part of a song, but since im into > steinmusic im not so sure about this anymore. > > A good example is when youre in a public place and trying > to whistle or humm along to a song in your head, so that > the people around you might notice it and join the catchy > song. > With most of the steintunes this isnt working. > Take for example Angles arise/graveyard shift, which is, > in my opinion, one of Jims most emotional compositions, > but does the graveyard shift have a significant or catchy > melody? not really to me. > AFL is the exeption, with one of the most catchy chorusses > Jim's ever done, and that's probably the reason why it was > so successful.
