To me lyrics are important but i think the intro into a song is the most important. Something has to grab your attention. and the song needs a catchy melody of course.

I could write a song with the lyrics "Jesus has a tail and it wags like a limp cock" and it could be a #1 hit if it grabbed the listeners attention and had a catchy tune. To me the lyrics seal the deal, the icing on the cake, etc...

so many fun songs have stupid lyrics, but to me the complete package makes a great song.
