This is not directed at you, just a general statement but: What did LOTR have going besides the name? BOOH is not only a name but, pretty much, a guaranteed score of fantastic proportions. It doesn't just "play safe" with the jukebox sell, Steinman's songs are really theatrical. Plus it's like a mad version of Walt Disney "Fantasia" or Wagner "Ring" at Bayreuth where all of his ideals are finally achieved? And then you have the spectacle. The only thing that can sink this is a bad script and miscast actors (I think the creative team are brilliant and done some exciting stuff in the past.) It's going to be a much more positive experience than DOTV at least. For one, Steinman's in the spotlight and Meat and Crawford aren't above the title. As Big Kev used to say, I'm Excited! > LOTR was praised for it's staging and scenery, but I think > the music & lyrics were 'lacking'. > > I've also read that the weekly running costs were > extremely high as well, and the show was possibly not > breaking even? > > I'm hoping Bat will surpass LOTR in terms of spectacle, > and we all know the songs have a huge following. > > | |
