The obvious answer should be "check the damn stats and figure out where the hits are coming from". Depending what tracker you're using (I see some Google Analytics code on the page), that shouldn't be too hard. Hell, even *I* managed to trace a sudden flow of visitors back to a Hungarian messageboard.
And as for pulling the whole site down, paranoia or marketing scheme?
