It didn't show what he'd become it showed what he was and always was. The ending was just a mindless bit of violence to finish off the film.

I haven't seen that yet, but I'm going to have to head back to the UK, so maybe I'll see that one on the plane. A nice little family movie I have watched recently is The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep.
