| Being the peace-loving (argumentative at times, but peace-loving) guy that I am, I wouldn't hit you. And certainly not in the head. People need their head. But I certainly wouldn't hit you for any of that anyway. Desmond has been and can be a brilliant writer. Your assessment of the guy is spot on I think. But the way I see it, given their respective track records regarding Meat, I'd banish Desmond to the "Devil's Net, that's made up of fire" (whatever the hell that is) long before casting off Dianne Warren. Alive is a pretty great song actually, with a good vocal, and it's STILL not as good as any of Warren's tracks from CHSIB. I think Diane Warren is just a better artist than Desmond, transcending genres more naturally and creating more interesting stuff in more than just the catchy pop outlet. Desmond's attempt at consciously and deliberately trying to "make an epic" song, in his own words, turned out as the craptacular Monster is Loose. It's among the lo-lights of the album! And it ain't epic, it's completely linear, drawn out and bloated. I think I would have enjoyed Bat 3 more if it was "Songs by Diane Warren", produced by Ron Nevison. They've proven themselves more than worthy as far as I'm concerned. > at the risk of having my head smashed: > I dont think that Desmond Child is that bad a > writer....the problem with him is that's hes simply an > awful producer.
