at the risk of having my head smashed:
I dont think that Desmond Child is that bad a writer....the problem with him is that's hes simply an awful producer. Much too cheesy and way to much mainstream-pop. He wrote some nice peaces for Bon Jovi though (and not to forget Ms. Tyler) that lead me to believe he can do better than bat3.

Similar with Diane Warren, she's hit and miss, although the misses are in the majority.

Id like to hear the Loaf do a little known piece of hers called "faith of the heart", which was the title melody for that awful new star trek offspring a few years ago.

And, also at the risk of being hit, I think another ALW number could work quite well, maybe something from the upcoming phantom 2?

Regarding Jim:
wouldnt really like to see any of his songs on the album IF Steinman isnt producing them himself (which is 99.9999% certain). If there are then Meat Loaf will try badly to make them sound steinman-esque, which simply has to fail (see bat3 again). He, and the production team, should rather use their power to find some kickass songs and golden them with a superb production.
