Both projects could've been happening concurrently without infringing on each other. In fact I think they would help each other, as Jim is more than just Bat Out Of Hell and it would help people understand and appreciate just how many songs he's written.
I strongly believe that despite Jim being surrounded by very talented people, I honestly don't think they're serving him in his interest.
