None of the vocalists really stood out. You compare the recordings to "Bat Out Of Hell", "Bad For Good", "Faster Than The Speed Of Night", "Streets Of Fire", "Original Sin", "Back Into Hell", "Tanz" etc. and see what I mean. They're all vocally brilliant but, look at it this way, if you want to compare it to Meat Loaf it's relative. They have the vocal brilliance, Meat Loaf does not. Meat Loaf has the emotion and charisma, they do not. I'm not complaining that they're not around, I think that's a good thing in a way. The only thing I'm complaining about is the lack of a new "solid" Steinman album with the new songs. That is all. As far as I'm concerned, we could be getting that in connection with the "Bat" musical, probably (or should I say hopefully) with celebrities (i.e. Sarah Brightman on "Angels Arise".)
Anyway, if TDE did release an album, the audience wouldn't have been as big as Jim releasing an album with the name "Bat Out Of Hell", thus limiting the audience for his new material. And when it comes to Jim and new material, the audience has to be as big as possible. THESE DAYS. I certainly understand if that's the way he feels.
