There's some really good stuff... 'In the blink of an eye, the Devil’s Playground is born again! The Devil’s Playground is alive again!' 'Thousand of tombstones, just waiting for the names' The whole 'Paradise Lost' section. ...but the whole thing seems disjointed, with no structure (that I can recognise). To be fair to Jim, he did say the lyrics were 'not even first draft', and I would suggest that if he continued to work on it, the lyrics will have changed a lot? Also, if we ever hear it with music, it would make a lot more sense? > Can any of you Neverland historians shed some light on > potential motivation for Hook here? The only thing that makes sense (to me) is that 'Paradise' in the song is 'Obsidian', and Hook's dreams of a huge 'antiseptic bubble' have been shattered? BTW - Probably because Jim had refined these 'Paradise Lost' lyrics previously, they are the most cohesive in the whole 'Devil's Playground' song, but they don't seem to fit with what has been said beforehand? "No matter How heavy the cost To this very day I can stand tall and say: I fought for Paradise But Paradise lost I fought for Paradise And Paradise lost. It wasn’t your fault or mine Wasn’t this it wasn’t that But Paradise lost In the final at bat Paradise lost In the last at bat." | |
