I'm not arguing semantics, Dave. "Rockguru" is a phrase applied liberally by lazy music journalists and is essentially meaningless. My beef is with the total disregard given to Meat Loaf by some posters on this site. Yes, his voice is appalling nowadays, yes he can't spell (though quite why that is used as a stick to beat him with, I don't understand), yes he bullshits - shock, horror so does Jim. The utter lack of respect that Meat's performance on Bat out of Hell gets is pathetic, because - for me - the vocals on that album are 50% of the magic. And, regardless of what has happened since, I don't feel inclined to lay into someone who was such a huge part of one of my favourite ever albums ever. The Loaf-haters are every bit as moronic and boring as the Loafers. The whole concept of Steinfans vs Loafers is ridiculous. | |
