I second this thought, to a degree. I want to see Jim get more into producing for artists for whom he hasn't written. Lord knows the Rock-Man loves control, but facts is facts, right now everything under his control music-wise is going toward the "Bat" cross-promotion effort. Twiddling knobs hardly takes any of the same amount of effort, especially if he takes a more hands-off attitude a la Watershed. Surely Rinkoff's found people from their time at Ravenous who would be worthy of having Jim's name on their album. Some names come to mind: ** Hewitt Huntwork--who wrote two brilliant songs for the "Wuthering Heights" soundtrack and would fit the James Blunt or John Mayer singer/songwriter niche that is fast becoming popular (how hard is it to produce a Hewitt vocal and stick them on the tracks of "I Will Crumble" and "Shine" as an initial single?) ** the recently reunited Boyzone--which would combat the sad sack of vomit known as Westlife and fill a void in the U.S. that has been aching ever since the boy bands of yesteryear went their separate ways (I suggest a remix and re-release of "No Matter What," as Jim recently suggested in an offhand remark during the WDTW US tour press junket) ** Nicki French--get some spots on the dance charts (what the hell, press another "Total Eclipse" or dredge up her "Lovers Again" recording) ** even an official co-release of the Westlife "Eclipse" remix with their label Gets Jim's name back in the news for something, right? Also makes it look like Ravenous has any activity left in it. > Hey Jim > > It seems the Bat musical is a full-time job, which > probably answers my question, but just wondering whether > between now and the musical opening, would you consider > taking on production work for other artists (maybe one or > two tracks rather than whole albums), and if anything, for > a break from the musical work? > > The Bonnie Tyler album seems an interesting project but JD > says you 'aint been asked? > > Do you still get offers, or is any other > production/songwriting work on hold until after the > musical? > > BTW - The Westlife 'Eclipse' remix was great, and the > charts are missing your unique style! | |
