If Meat just recorded the songs Jim wrote then why did they spend 12 months (or whatever it was) together in an hotel room working on the 7 songs? Why not skip all that and Jim and Meat just meet up at the studio?

No one is saying they had equal input into the concept (not story) of the album, but there's no way any reasonable minded person isn't going to believe Meat had some small minor part in it.
