| Maybe more like Velveeta, I'd say. (That's a cheese substitute, right?) If Rory were a food brand, he'd be "I Can't Believe Its Not a Lead Vocalist." Rory is a gifted singer, and great at what he does, but what he does is enhance the performance of a true frontman whose voice has both substance AND style. Meat had both. Rory only ever had substance, as far as I could tell, but no real sense of style to call his own, and set him apart from the background pack. Rory singing lead, as on "A Kiss...," "Surf's Up," or RnR Dreams, was adequate, even good, but always lacking something, which basically was a sense of identity. Rory sounds good, but bland. Much the same problem Rob Evan has, although I still find his work with TSO to be much better than his work with TDE. In short, I hold with those who favor fire. Er.... Meat. > > I was wondering... who would you say you like better, Meat > > when he had his voice, or Rory Dodd? > > Rory without a doubt. His voice was like velvet on the > ears. | |
