I think the issue is that Jim gets so little exposure as it is, when it does happen, his fans are pretty anxious for the impression to be a positive one. The fruitcake who killed IDAFL last night just backed up every music critic who has long since written the song off as a cheesy "80s" power-ballad, rendering it further back into the closets of "fringe" music fans.
