I've never heard Steve Steinman's shows (although I do remember his decidedly dodgy take on Meat doing Bat on Stars in their Eyes back in the 90s!). It's interesting to see just how much he has managed to flood the internet with his presence though. Type in "Steve Steinman" and "reviews", and the 1st 2 pages of Google are nearly all official links to his site. Which, interestingly enough, shows up as either "Steve Steinman: The Meat Loaf Trilogy - A Rockman Music production" or "Vampires Rock - Steve Steinman - A Rockman Music Production". Can't help but feel that Porkington would be being ripped to shreds for that... Oh, and here's a little press blurb from qype.co.uk - I wonder who wrote this? "The songs from Bat Out Of Hell performed live with a full orchestra and the voice of Steve Steinman. Steve Steinman, the creator and singing force behind three of the World’s best selling rock musical-concerts, now brings you the ultimate rock experience. Bat the Symphony combines a 40 piece orchestra with the power of a rock band and the vocals of Steinman, generating what can only be described as a mind-blowing musical event. Well known the world over for his hit shows Vampires Rock and The Meat Loaf Trilogy, Steinman has pulled out all the stops for this new production. With the intensity of a rock concert and the style and grace of an opera, Steinman has combined two Worlds to present these much loved songs as they were always intended to be. Steinman will perform all the hits from Meat Loaf’s record-breaking albums including; Paradise By The Dash Board Light, Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth and Bat Out Of Hell as well as dueting on the Grammy award-winning hit song I’d Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That) and old favourite Dead Ringer For Love." ...No mention of Jim. > ... And as someone who has been to a 'Steve Steinman' > show, may I point out it was bloody awful! A camp, > toe-curling pastiche, not a tribute. What was meant to be > operatic and soaring, in Steve's hands, became kitsch and > cheesy. The guy had a decent enough voice, I guess, but > the whole tone of the show was off-putting and certainly > didn't do Meat Loaf or Jim justice. > | |
