"It would be nice" and "I wish" are at the root of religion. i.e. Wishful thinking. Scientists are no more convinced in their beliefs than religious folk are; the difference is that science actually has evidence on which to base convictions. If we believe that a "God" is responsible for Mozart, Jim and other wonders, we should also believe that He/he is responsible for all the shit in the world too.
