Disagree. People can smoke in their own homes.

It pisses me off when I'm walking down a high street and get a lungful of someone's smoke, but I guess banning smoking in such places might be a step too far.

I don't follow.

Silly question, since even those on benefits or begging in the street seem to be able to afford tobacco. However, the answer is yes, of course it's fair. It's just an expense like any other. It gets taxed like most everything. I happen to drive a lot. I happen to like fast cars and happen to have two of the expensive buggers. Whose fault would it be if I bankrupted myself in my indulgence?

Then they shouldn't have spent their money on a habit that kills them and leaves them broke. People should be responsible for their own decisions and actions. Blaming outcomes on others is weak and pointless.

Oh, and I speak as someone who is about to lose a mother-in-law to lung cancer, something that is almost certainly a result of her (ex) smoking habit.

Then his dad shouldn't have been so self-centred. It's the dad's fault, not society's fault for trying to change habits through taxation.
