| As far as modern videos go, I agree with you that Anything For Love was the best. It's an epic directed by Michael Bay (am I right?), who went on to direct Transformers. I especially love Meat's makeup. It gave the video a Beauty and the Beast feel. Meat Loaf has often said that BOOH is about Beauty and the Beast. The AFL video is proof of that. However, the stage clips for BOOH the song and PBTDL were very exciting in the late seventies. They showed the BOOH clip on the Old Grey Whistle Test (in the UK) and it was so exciting even though most of us watching had never heard a Jim Steinman song before. The next day people were requesting the album because they had seen that clip. In the early days Meat Loaf was a great actor and he was perfect for playing the beast. He didn't need a fancy video. Just him on stage with Karla De Vito and that fantastic, powerful band was enough to send shivers down the spines of many Brits. | |
