It does seem deliberate- the fact that there is a close-up of the neck/ headstock seems that he wants to emphasize that it was in fact a Fender; however, if he used an actual Tele or a Strat, it wouldn't be ambiguous anymore. (He couldn't remember)Thus, I think maybe they changed the body on purpose. Either that, or it just cleverly worked out that way. ;0)
