At the moment Jim Steinman might get the bigger obituary in a serious newspaper like The Times, who publish lengthy obituaries about all sorts of people every day. They are interested in accomplishment more than fame and Jim has had success which is greatly more varied than Meat Loaf. A greatest hits package of Jim's work would include all the Meat Loaf songs and add many others including Bonnie Tyler, Celine Dion and Jim himself. Then there are the other musical projects like Tanz, Whistle Down The Wind and Wuthering Heights. When Bat Out Of Hell The Musical is staged, Jim might actually become more famous than Meat Loaf in the United Kingdom (or at least as famous as Meat). It is possible that Meat would be mourned more because he is a stage performer but I think that Jim would get the bigger obituary in a serious newspaper like The Times. Perhaps not in downmarket newspapaers like The Sun. | |
