Thanks. For some reason about 1/2 of my songs end up being voiced by female characters. So much for writing what I know!

I'm not big on themes, personally. I'm more in the "art for art's sake" school of thought, as opposed to "art has to have a message," and I used to mix it up with my English & Lit. teachers back in the day on this point. They'd always try to tell us what the author's theme was, and I'd be like, "Are you sure the guy's not just trying to tell a fucking story?"

Which is not to say that themes don't develop within a creative work, but I just don't buy that most artists start with a theme or themes and then develop a work around it.
