| Of course it could have been won... if we were trying to win it. We beat the Axis by dropping a couple of bombs... if we had felt any true danger to the US we would have gone in there and wiped out the enemy. The reason the US has never really fought a war to win it since WWII is because then we haven't faced an enemy as strong as us. In WWII there was a very real chance that the Axis could have ended the existence of the USA so we did whatever was necessary to defeat the enemy... since then we haven't done "whatever it takes". > > RIP Walter Kronkite, a true american icon. > > I agree.
