Jim did a lot for Batman.
Not really... Everything that has upped Batman's marketability is from the new movies.
The producers

I doubt it was DOTV that caused the cancelation it was the movies. A singing Batman was at odds with what they were accomplishing with the new movies.

Now you have intimate knowledge of Tim Burton's thoughts as well? I'm quite sure Burton would do a live show with Elfman as composer... probably Sondheim as well... I don't think Burton was ever attached as a director anyway... he denies that he was ever approached.
