| Rob, I am very sorry if you find me posting this at the top of the board to be offensive. I want to reply to Dave's letter (which is now about half way down the board) and some of the points are important to me because of what I believe are some misconceptions about me and my attitude. Perhaps I am "seeking attention", as you said the last time I did this. But yes, I would like other posters to read this if they have time. Please understand that I am constantly finding messages which are designed to provoke me (although not from Dave - I misunderstood what he was saying). I don't want to be run off the board without one last go at defending myself. If the two posters in question would stop leaving provocative messages, then I would feel little or no need to discuss these issues again. I would rather talk about other subjects, in a friendly way, with other board members. Also, the fact that, in one way, I haven't got my "finger on the pulse", is relevant to the current thread at the top of this page. Dave, Okay. Fair enough. I took your post slightly the wrong way. When JD said that anyone would be "dead wrong" to think that I am a "fine source of information" (not quite sure what that means), it made me a wee bit defensive. "Dead wrong" is very strong language and it is not accurate. I may not be the best source of information but she didn't have to say that. If I was allowed to write freely on this board I would be an okay source of information. Though I'm not saying that I have as much inside information as you and Smeg. He has claimed to have "sources" and you must have a few yourself. Can you remember when you were able to say with authority that Bright Eyes and Leesa had no connection to Pidunk? How did you know for sure when you also said that its easy to create alter-egos? When I said someone could go down to the library in order to get a different ISP, you replied that its much easier than that. > > Any chance of you backing up your words with facts? Thank you for actually replying. When Pudding accuses me of spreading bullshit about Jim, he refuses to reply when I ask him for examples. > Sure. I said 3 things - first that you won't ask Jim for > his opinion on DotV and then report back to us, as Smeg > said. I'm pretty sure I'm right, and the ball is on you > court to prove me wrong. Okay. I will try to do this (about if he feels that Michael Crawford was in any way to blame). Reporting back will get me into trouble because of my gag order but I don't mind being in trouble every now and then. As long as I don't go too far. There is a line I don't want to step over because JD is monitoring and she has my mother's ear (and also my mother likes JD, so she doesn't want her son fighting with her, for obvious reasons). If Jim (the Wizard Of Oz) is going along with his gag order, then I guess I should too (being only small like Toto). But I can remember Jim writing publicly about two years ago and he was blaming someone else for DOTV's failure (this is not inside information - it was published on the internet). > Second, I said you pretend to have his finger on the > pulse. You claim to be a long-term Jim fan yet you answer > basic questions (see the top of the board) that anyone > here could answer in their sleep. Okay. You are partly correct. I don't have my finger on the pulse. But I am not "pretending" or I wouldn't ask questions on the board which expose my ignorance. I have been a fan of Jim for decades but the only Jim study I have done before finding this board was reading Meat's book. I loved the music and still do but when I found this board I was fascinated by the way some posters had a great knowledge of Jim and that they would probably be able to do a degree in Jimology. However, I think people who want to learn should be allowed to ask questions. I can recite the lyrics for Bat 1 and Bat 2 but I don't know about the 50 versions of TEOTH that Smeg knows about. I don't know which bootleg recordings of concerts exist. And details like that. But I love Jim so I want to learn. That doesn't mean I don't get turned on by Jim's songs. I only have my finger on the pulse when it comes to the current state of the United States of Steinman. But I have never seen the Wuthering Heights show that he did for MTV. I would love to but it is one of the few things that Don won't help us with. I wonder if Jim doesn't like it (another thing I don't know about Jim that you and Smeg probably know). I would also like to say that I am not a diehard Steinman fan only because of Jim's music achievements. I admire his script writing, his speech writing, his concept art (like the Bat 1 cover), his vegetarianism (important to me)and more than anything I admire Jim the human being. I know that he is a kind and wonderful human being and I have only learned this in the past few years. Before that I only knew about his music. > You also post your > "snippets" of information almost all of which are so > obvious anyone could have posted them, I know. I am under a gag order. That's the only kind of information I am allowed to post. When I get naughty and post something like that Scarfe isn't doing the show or that Jane Asher was more popular than he was, there is almost always a huge backlash. Like Smeg starting the thread and having a go at me because I know things. Scarfe wasn't given a contract (they met with him and Jane Asher years ago - although Jane is very friendly and keeps in touch, which is nice) and there is now only a remote outside chance he will doing the show (its also that some of the creative team (not Jim) worry about Floyd comparisons but they didn't actually make that clear to Jim). A simple post, which was in reply to someone asking why Gerald hadn't done the logo and poster, caused a lot of trouble. I can't wait for the time when Jim blogs freely and nothing is secret. I just want to discuss things with people on the board and hear their opinions. Not being allowed to do that is irritating. I have written some details of the scripts that I was asked to evaluate. Someone said that I was lying because they thought that Obsidian is in California (when I said it was in apocalyptic Manhattan). It has been changed to Manhattan (which makes more sense because of the importance of islands to Peter Pan). Some others said that I was lying about being asked to comment. But I have seen copies of my evaluations that were sent to JD where she has added her own comments. Its like Conas stating that I am a wacko for saying that my mother is working with Jim, when Ryan made it very clear that I must be telling the truth because there is no other way I could have known about him asking permission to use Jim's songs for the Frankenstein project. Talking about the scripts gets Smeg really angry. He wonders why people "who could do some good" are not asked. Persumably he means folks like him who have theatrical experience (I understand he is a director and actor). But that is the point. Jim already has a creative team with lots of theatrical experience. He was looking for the opinions of audience members. If you see what I mean. Unlike creative team members, I am not going to try and direct Jim's script or try to put my vision into it. > others (like you saying in May that there would be news on > the Bat musical "very soon") now being obviously wrong. Jim and my mother were planning to do that but their plans keep changing. One of the reasons why there is a gag order on me, Jim and JD. If people wern't so sensitive to changing information then... They also worry about journalists reading the board. > Finally, I said you're "not all you're cracked up to be", > some wordplay which your keenly honed sense of humour > failed to pick up on, as evidenced by the lack of your > customary "Ha Ha" in your reply. Yes. I was in the wrong mood to get the joke. Ha ha. That's quite good. Sorry for not getting it. I am both daft and scrambled. > Dave Egg. | |
