Not really... Peter Pan was set in London and then Neverland... Neverland was an Island... but that wasn't of much importance... California has a coastline if one is needed for the plot... which it never needed before. Setting it in California was always important for Jim's version because many times he has described Peter as a surfer type... and Jim has said that California evokes all the points in his song of youth and rebellion in a way that Manhattan does not... trust me... I know Neverland and its heart and soul.
