| As soon as Jim decided to call the show Bat out of Hell, he lost the chance to market it as just a musical piece in the West End. If he'd wanted to do that, he should have called it Neverland. I don't think anybody is seriously suggesting having Meat on stage, but totally ignoring him in the advertising and publicity for the show would be ridiculous. Everyone who knows the name Bat out of Hell knows it's by Meat Loaf. Far fewer people know that Jim wrote the songs. Denying the Meat Loaf connection will make the publicity a mess - far better to play it down where possible, but to acknowledge that the classic songs made famous by Meat (and that's the crux) will be in it. Loafers won't expect to see Meat on stage. Queen fans and Abba fans were able to understand the difference quite easily. Whether it's just another jukebox musical or something much better will be down to the quality of the writing, not whether Meat is mentioned in the adverts. | |
