With regards to the UK entry, I think Josh did the best he could with what he was given and he put on a brave face throughout. It should be noted tho, I believe he's virtually an amateur whereas most of the other contestants are established artists. This showed most on the final two notes of the song, which really should have been picked up earlier... Niamh, on the other hand, after struggling with her final note in the Semi, chose falsetto and it worked! Well apart from the points that is... :s
