| I was just thinking about alternative ways to distribute albums. This would not be for a major label release like "The Final Flight" but it could be for a really cool Jim Steinman's Greatest Hits album. Paul McCartney distributed one album through a chain of coffee shops. Wendy's sometimes gives away a free album with every burger. Steve Leber's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles shifted three million copies of their album that way. The Mail On Sunday would be better. At least Prince has released an album with The Mail (I think it has a circulation of about four million). It is not practical for them to release a double CD, so the CD would have to be maybe twelve tracks. But what twelve tracks would you choose? For a Jim Steinman's Greatest Hits album? I would like a Jim Steinman's Greatest Hits album that included all the great people he has worked with. Streisand, Dion, Manilow, Take That, Loaf, Tyler, Sisters Of Mercy, Lloyd Webber, Elliman, Pandora's Box. Although this would mean a limited selection of Meat Loaf and Bonnie Tyler tracks, so it wouldn't really be a Jim Steinman's Greatest Hits album if it didn't include Two Out Of Three. More of an "Introduction To The Musical World Of Jim Steinman". Of course a limited number of Bat songs might be good because the give away album would not be competing with any official Bat releases from major labels. So which twelve tracks would you choose? If you could only include three Meat Loaf songs, which three would you pick? | |
