| CultOfByron made some very interesting points in the last Wagner thread. I wonder if Simon was being slightly hypocrtical when he said about the attempt to derail the show failing (when Wagner was voted out). Not only was Wagner making them a huge amount of money with phone votes but he was adding to the entertainment value of the show (and Simon knows this - obviously). It didn't escape my attention either that the Rage Against the Machine campaign of last year was organised by two former Sony employees and acquaintances of Cowell's, who's own SyCo label is a part of Sony. If the public don't know this stuff, and it's not exactly secret, then their understanding of the situation is impaired. The con game relies on believing that there are two different 'sides' in this 'battle', whereas both 'sides' are the same coin. The only way not to get stung is to not play the game at all." | |
