Clive Davis tried to give Jim songwriting lessons (before the success of Bat 1). Meat Loaf talks about it in his book because it was hillarious hearing someone telling Jim (of all people) how to write three minute, radio friendly pop songs. I can't imagine Jim trying to edit "Bat Out Of Hell" or "Paradise By The Dashboard Light" so that they fit neatly in with a three minute time limit and also the traditional song structure that Clive wanted. As you say: "most people, when they listen to music, seem to refuse using their brains". Clive must have been refusing to use his brain when Jim played the "BOOH" songs for him. | |
