For me, all the demos have what makes Jim's music puzzle, his lyrics are still witty, his music intense the atmosphere just as amazing. I think Todd was "the final piece" for Jim, Bat 1 was when he relised the type of artist he really was. Its amazing, the demos are like hearing Jim before he was "our" Jim.
In answer to your question, no, Todd didnt invent Jim's style, I just think Todd brought the most refined form of it out him, and for that alone he should be celebrated.
