Demo Musings

Thanks to bellminer for unearthing all the 'stuff' this week.

Some highlights (for me):

'Smoke Song' has a great piano intro (he should re-use it on something new), a great Jim vocal, and love the line 'floating into ever colder coldness'. Should be the title..... 'Ever Colder Coldness'.

Glorious Rory Dodd vocal on 'Making Love.....', which edges Air Supply & Bonnie.

'Sun In Your Eyes' has a great melody, and could be a hit (with some new lyrics). Can see Mumford & Sons doing this.

Love the lines: 'you're gonna have to die & die, again & again, until you learn how to live, we're gonna take from you, until you learn how to give'

Chorus melody inspired these alternative lines: 'You've got to love me with a fire in your heart, you've got to make all my dreams come true, you've got to share that aching lust in your eyes, until the day that never comes'.

Jim's impression of Neil Sedaka on 'Who Needs The Young'.

The use of Queen's 'Stone Cold Crazy' in Kid Champion.

Some great piano parts in 'Golden Egg' (a macabre fairytale?).

Also....

Might be Bette Midler doing Heaven Can Wait (I think she did a demo once).

Not overly keen on the country vibe to a lot of the stuff (hate steel guitars) but obviously Jim's production/arrangement style developed (for the better) through the 80's.
