I've watched this thread progress and, quite frankly, I disagree with almost everything you've said. I don't think you're blinded by hate for Meat, just blinded by love for Jim.

To say Meat 'was JUST the singer' is completely ridiculous. That's like saying Aretha Franklin, Elvis, Frank Sinatra and Sam Cooke were JUST the singers. Yes the songs help, but it's the performance that sells it - it's all about the voice, the presence, the charisma, the power, the image. Go and listen to FCOL again and come back and tell me that anyone else could deliver a vocal performance like that. As Jim has said, it's just 'astonishing'.

Without Meat, Bat would, I hate to say it, have dissolved into obscurity like Bad for Good and Original Sin (and even that had amazing vocals).

So I beg to differ. Yes, I would love Jim to have more credit for Bat, but I think to take away anything from Meat is short-sighted and unfair.
