| CHSIB took what worked from Jim's style and made it more contemporary for the time, at least that's what I get from the songs that I've listened to from it. For me, they have elements of what made his work with Jim great, but enough of Meats own preferences to keep him happy. CHSIB has songs that really suit Meats style of singing now days. In short, CHSIB sound like a natural progression for Meat, and it works Hang Cool Teddy Bear is another story though. I think its a great album with great production values and one or two good songs on there, but at this stage in his career, it seemed like a step back for Meat, another album closer to something like CHSIB would have been alot better and suited the type of performer he is now. As for his vocals, I dont know if they were tweaked or whatever at some stage, but to me, they highlight how much his voice has changed over the years and makes me question as to whether or not he has the voice to really do a new Steinman song justice, cause I'm not so sure, what made his voice unique is gone, or at least hidden for the time being. In regards to his next album, I really hope he can find the right balance of what's worked for in the past, something like Welcome to Neighbourhood would be wonderful for him to go out on, and maybe it could include a Jim song, I know what I said before would suggest I wouldnt like that, but in this case, I'd like to be proven wrong, hell, I'd love to be proven wrong! . > I just thought I'd ask the Steinfans what they think of > Meats musical direction these days.
