| I would suggest that the 7 Steinman tunes on Bat III are not, as a whole, of sufficient quality to make up a satisfactory "complete" album. I suppose my view is necessarily tainted by what Desmond & crew did with them, and maybe if Jim had produced them all I would feel differently. Part of it, too, is the fact that 1/2 of them were recycled from previous studio albums, so there wasn't enough that felt "new" if they had been releases as a 7-song album. I'm pretty confident I would not have felt satisfied with such an album. Not that I felt satisfied with the Desmond-padded album they did release. I understand the desire to put more songs on the record, but I'll never understand why the let Desmond write, or co-write nearly all of them. I recall during the process Meat saying there was a very strict screening process or something for new songs for the record.
