You are correct, the remastering is not an improvement. Everything is far too loud. If anyone wants the live songs (some of which are shit) then they are better off hunting down the singles on which they appeared (or downloading them if you know where to look!) as they appear without any clipping.
I still think the original 1993 version of Bat II is the best.
