Meat Loaf: To Hell And Back: TV Movie Mistakes

I have been asking people their opinions about the "Meat Loaf: To Hell And Back" TV Movie. I have just received an email from a friend who knows a lot about the history of Meat Loaf, pointing out mistakes that the TV movie made. I am wondering if anyone else noticed these mistakes or if they have any other mistakes to add. One thing that I noticed was what happened to Meat after the first showing of the BOOH film clip on American TV (when the tape slowed down and it all went wrong). In the book and interviews Meat Loaf says that he went on a bender (I think he was in Detroit) and woke up three days later in the Harbor Castle Hotel in Toronto with now idea of how he got there. In the film they simply show Meat walking around a street kicking empty cans. I am guessing that the book is much closer to what really happened than the TV movie is. Although I would be interested to hear any mistakes that anyone reading the book noticed. Anyway, here is the list of mistakes that my friend sent me:

* No mention of Stoney and Meatloaf

* “More than you deserve” was originally
called “Souvenirs”. Meat Loaf would not have auditioned for “More than you deserve”.

* The song “More than you deserve” was included especially for Meat, which then became the title of the show.

* Meat sang “You gotta give your heart to Jesus” at the audition and I believe he was accompanied by Steve Margoshes. Meat and Steve had just worked on a musical called “Rainbow”, which was like a sequel to “Hair”.

* Filming of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” took place in England and I can’t imagine Jim being on the set. Prove me wrong ;-)

* Leslie, Meat’s former wife, is introduced before “Bat out of Hell” and not after.

* There is absolutely NO MENTION of the album “Bad for Good”. It’s just Meat and Jim in the studio working on “Dead Ringer” and Meat can’t sing. They glossed over a really important chapter.

* Meat didn’t see his father in the 80s because his father was already dead. And there was no shrine because Meat wasn’t famous in the early 70s. Also, Meat’s father died in the early 70s.

* There is no mention of any of the 80s albums after “Dead Ringer”.

* There is no mention of any of the other films that he would have made.

* When Jim’s at the piano playing “Out of the frying pan”, I laughed because that song had actually been around since the early 80s.

* He did not sing “I’d do anything for love (But I won’t do that)” at the cancer charity event. He actually sang “I’d lie for you (And that’s the truth)”.

All comments are welcome. Thanks.
